Biography
As a child, Patricia Payne’s two favorite activities were reading and creating art. These passions have remained an integral aspect of her life. She started college as an art major, but the readings in a child psychology course ignited a dedication to working with children. She received an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Georgia. As a therapist specializing in the field of sexual abuse, art became a powerful component of the therapeutic process with her clients. to understand our world.
After a hiatus to raise her family, Patricia has returned to creating art. She has taken classes with masters in the field including Chery Baird, Steven Aimone, Audrey Phillips, and Nancy Hillis. Her work as an artist is a natural progression from her work as a therapist. Patricia uses abstract expressionism to explore and to understand our world.
